Lost Garden have lined up a new venue to play; Eten, a cafe / bistro / tearoom next door to Sheffield Cathedral. We dropped in for some hot choccy after a gig at the Cathedral last year and had a guided tour of the performance area upstairs. They haven’t really ventured into the “experimental” musical field, so we’re hoping it will be a success and help establish a superb City-centre venue.
Alongside us will be Inclusion Principle, featuring Martin Archer – laptop, woodwinds, Hervé Perez – laptop, woodwinds, Peter Fairclough – drums and percussion, and afterwards, we hope, a chance to play together – always an exctiing prospect!
Thanks to all those who braved the cold weather for our soiree at Bishop’s House, it was a warm, friendly atmosphere inside. Excellent chillout set from Peter Challoner, then an outer-space sci-fi soundfest from Modulator ESP. During our set, we had the ethereal vocals of Frostlake sitting in on the second piece – she has kindly delivered some vocals on one of the tracks from our forthcoming CD Cotyledon – many thanks! For our final piece we reworked one of Andy’s old Comsat classics, “Pray For Rain”.
Big up to Mark Mettam who supplied excellent lighting throughout. Do please spread the word about Bishops House music events, they are excellent value and it’s a unique venue! Here’s a pic from Phil Booth. More pics under “gallery”.
We are returning to our favourite venue on December 5th along with Nottingham-based artists Peter Challoner and Modulator ESP
We have a gig at the Church of Sound (aka Lee Rosy’s tea) 17 Broad Street, Hockley, NG1 3AJ Nottingham on Thursday October 23rd. Should be an intimate venue!
Actually, it’s a “recital”, according to the Sheffield Cathedral event on facebook. It’s been a few years since my last gig at the wonderfully reverberant Cathedral (see epic right) and we (Lost Garden) are looking forward to it a great deal. My brother sang in the choir some 50 years ago and I have wonderful memories of watching Graham Matthews, the organist, performing with bare feet.
We’re on around 1pm, Thursday October 9th, in front of the Nave…
The Garden is the name of my latest improv duo, featuring the wonderful Andy Peake on keyboards & FX. The last time I played original music with Andy was back in the 80s during my brief tenure in his band the Comsat Angels. We’ve been good friends since and done plenty of jamming with various drummers & bassists, but more recently we’ve shrunk back to a duo and are developing a sound & feel. You can check out the first fruits of this on a live recording called Kairos
Our first gig will be at Bishop’s House on friday May 30th, alongside Martin Archer and Mark Hadman.
